We had a one day workshop with Kohei Nawa. The workshop was titled Higher is Beautiful. We each worked with one large piece of card paper to create a high & beautiful structure. *kb

Our second workshop was based on re-use, creating a terrace and furniture from old palets and used furniture. With the help of Alberto & Andreas of Ciszak-Dalmas, we built a floor for the terrace and much more in only one week. I worked with Anni to create the large rectangular tables. *kb
TRAVEL.istanbul

Our first trip of the year was to Istanbul, Turkey. Good Ole Constantinople. A city that is located on Europe & Asia´s border. The home of the Haya Sofia and the Blue Mosque. A land of history and apple tea, where the Bosphorus connects the world´s great seas.
While we were there we attended the City & Art Conference at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University where our tutors spoke. *kb

To start us off on our creativity for the year, we were divided into two themed groups - In Transit and Expiry. The In Transit group is led by Ali Ganjavian & Key Kawamura from Studio Banana, with the help of Pablo Carrascal as an investigator. The Expiry group is led by Luis Urculo, with the help of Jorge Lopez Conde. I belong to the expiry group. We were also assigned a project. Each of us was to purchase the same Ikea folding chair, and to use it to start off our year-long thesis investigation project. We were also advised that we would have to bring the chair - in whichever way, shape or form we decided - with us on our first voyage - to Istanbul, Turkey. *kb

We had a one-week-workshop with MISSONI. We worked with the suits they provided us with - made of their knit textiles - to create personal & group projects. The theme of my personal project was THE MISSONI FAMILY: portraying the 5 person Missoni family, a family of textiles, a family owned & run business and re*creating the familiar subject of family portraits. *kb
